Toronto’s Ombudsman Office Is Open For Business
April 9th, 2009 Categories: News Wire, On The Fridge Door
Well, it’s not like they can call it Toronto’s Last Chance Saloon. Or could they? It kinda fits, when you really think about it.
Toronto City Council has established its first Ombudsman, whose job is to investigate complaints about the administration of City government including its divisions, agencies, boards and commissions. A few notable exceptions are the Police Services Board, Board of Public Health and Board of the Toronto Public Library.
Torontonians who have been unable to resolve their grievances regarding city services through regular channels (i.e., the complaints process of the city service or program) are now able to bring their complaints to the attention of the Ombudsman. In other words, it’s a place of last resort. No guarantees.
If you believe you have a complaint that merits such consideration, go to the new Toronto Ombudsman web site, where you can find important information regarding jurisdiction, how the Ombudsman operates, and the complaints process.
I hope a satisfactory resolution is in your future!
